Jan completed her naturopathic nutritional medicine qualifications at Nature Care College in Sydney in 1996, and has been in practice since that time, first in a busy Sydney practice and in Perth since 2002.
Jan’s passion for nutrition started during her first career as a home economist, where she did cooking demonstrations, recipe and product development and teaching. This included working in the Australian Women’s Weekly Test Kitchen for six years as an editor of cookbooks. It was during this time that Jan became more interested in the nourishment value and nutritional importance of food, which lead her to commence nutritional medicine studies while still working at the magazine.
Jan’s wealth of experience allows her to combine her expertise on health and nutrition with cooking, writing and public speaking. In addition to her busy practice, she is the contributing natural health editor for Australian Good Taste magazine and her monthly column ‘Natural Solutions’ has appeared in this magazine for the last decade. Jan is often called upon by the media for her comments and opinions on natural health, and she is quoted regularly in health columns in The West Australian newspaper.
As an experienced nutritionist, ‘foodie’ and accomplished recipe developer, Jan has authored eight books on cooking, meditation and natural health. Her latest two books have won international awards. The Eat Well Cookbook, a fabulous gluten-free and dairy-free book, follows fast on the heels of The Detox Cookbook, which is an essential guide to doing a detox well with delicious recipes.
Jan loves to spread the word on how to eat well and achieve great health and she is an experienced, engaging and informative speaker.
